Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or case number entered into a page search tool is transmitted to the third-party provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query under its own policies. Smith County Court Docket does not retain or create a local log of those search terms.
Messages and Contact Submissions
Messages sent to a contact route may be retained so a response can be provided. They are not sold or routinely disclosed outside the organization, except where disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, standard technical information may be logged for site operation and security:
- The IP address assigned to your device
- Which browser you are using and its version
- Your device type and operating system
- The pages you visited and how long you stayed on each
- The site that sent you here, if any
- Timestamps for each page view
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device that can help measure aggregated use, such as which pages receive visits and where a session ends. Browser controls may block cookies. Some functions can behave differently when cookies are disabled.
What We Do With This Data
- Operating, securing, and improving the resource
- Directing a search query to the provider selected for that tool
- Reviewing aggregated traffic and page performance
- Diagnosing site errors and service interruptions
- Delivering advertising that may be interest based
No Court-Record Data on File
This resource does not host, maintain, compile, or sell a court-docket or personal case-record database. It provides general Smith County routing information for Circuit, Chancery, Justice, municipal, and Mississippi Electronic Courts channels. It is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor data is not assembled into consumer reports about other people.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes shown on some pages. Data submitted to those tools is governed by the provider's privacy policy, retention practices, and sharing choices. Review that provider's policy before submitting a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to clerk pages, court portals, Mississippi Electronic Courts, public agencies, or third-party services. Once a visitor leaves this resource, that destination's privacy policy governs the visit. Review it before providing personal information.
Some advertising partners may conduct cross-site activity measurement or interest-based advertising on their own systems.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information can be shared with:
- Search providers receiving a query submitted through their tool
- Analytics vendors used to understand traffic and performance
- Advertising networks that serve material on the pages
- Government authorities when a valid legal requirement applies
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable technical and organizational practices are used to protect collected information. Internet transmission and storage cannot be guaranteed completely secure, so absolute protection from a security incident cannot be promised.
Users Under 18
This resource is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If such information is believed to have been submitted, contact the organization so it can be addressed.
Your Data Rights
Mississippi law, including the Mississippi Public Records Act where public records are involved, may affect access or disclosure questions. Court records can also be governed by court rules and confidentiality law. For information held by this resource, a visitor may:
- Ask for a copy of what we have on file about you
- Have us fix information that is wrong
- Request that we erase your data
- Opt out of certain kinds of data processing
